  For its foundation the position of two fords in the Malý Dunaj (Little Danube) river, which was important trading route, were important. On the upper ford Prievoz rised (today's part named Ružinov). The German name of Ober Ufer was used in 1374 for the first time. Ružinov (German Rosental) can only be seen in documents not older than one century (first time at the beginning of the 20th century).
