This part belongs to the oldest settlements in the region of Bratislava.
Archeological findings give evidence of prehistoric habitation. In 1288 the reeve of Bratislava
ordered to built a settlement there. In 1945 it became a part of Bratislava. It is an important
reservoir of potable water. As for bioclimatic situation, it is the healthiest part of Bratislava.
There is a Town water-tower, which was built in 1886 on the Danube island of Siho¯ (Ger. Käsmacher).
